Exciting plans for the Bath Combination Summer Camps With the Bath Combination summer camps taking place on 4-8 August 2008, here's the details for the sessions which we're are organising, to encourage 'rugby for all, opportunities for all'. In keeping with this philosophy, we are delighted that we have teamed up with two local charities to provide additional places for participants. These are Bath Mentoring Plus, which encourages local organisations to take an active role in youth crime prevention work through community based initiatives and Bristol-based rugby charity PROPS, a project-based organisation which develops and supports sporting, vocational and educational initiatives that help those with special needs. Top coaches sign up to run the camps Bath Combination is delighted to announce the participation of the following coaches, who will be running the training sessions. James Farndon, Rugby Development Officer, Bristol Rugby; Backs Coach, Newbury Blues and Head Coach, Bristol University Level 3 Coach Kevin Moggridge, Assistance Rugby Development Coach, Bristol Rugby; Head Coach, Keynsham RFC and Forwards Coach, University of the West of England Level 3 Coach Geoff Moon, Bristol Rugby Academy Head Coach New Zealand Level 5 Coach Ben Sturnham, Head Coach for Newbury Blues and former Bath, Bristol and England rugby player Level 4 Coach Summer camp information: 4-8 August 2008 Venues: 4 - 5 August, 7-12 year olds, at Old Culverhaysians 6-8 August, 13-16 year olds, at Combe Down RFC For those attending, children must bring a packed lunch whilst drinks and refreshments will be provided. Participants should wear kit suitable for playing rugby, including wet weather gear, gum shields, trainers and moulded boots. Qualified first aid personnel will be in attendance. The summer camps begin each day at 9.30am for registration, sessions starting at 10am, and finishing at 3.30pm. There will be staff on site from 9am-4pm each day. Coach Education information: Friday 8 August 2008 Venue: Combe Down RFC On Friday, to complete this showpiece event, there will be a coach education session for all coaches of all age groups and levels from the Bath Combination area. This session, taking placing from 3.30pm - 6.30pm, will draw upon the expertise of the coaches listed above and will utilise the players from the camps, focusing on the new Experimental Law Variations (ELVs) and how to integrate them into training sessions for the new season. This will be held with the junior section of Combe Down RFC. End of camp celebration After the coaching session, Combe Down RFC will be hosting a barbeque with entertainment to create a fitting end to the week, from 6pm until late. Everyone is very welcome. |
